Fanatec

The deepest ecosystem in sim racing, now under new ownership.

Fanatec is the brand that defined consumer sim racing for over a decade. Founded as Endor by Thomas Jackermeier in Germany, it built the widest accessory catalog in the hobby and, crucially, the broadest console support, including the only credible direct-drive paths to PlayStation (GT DD Pro) and Xbox (CSL DD, Podium DD). The honest take: Fanatec's force feedback is reference-grade and its range is unmatched, but the brand went through a genuine scare. Endor AG declared insolvency in 2024 and Corsair acquired the Fanatec product line that September. The post-Corsair stabilization, a 3-year warranty, 30-day returns, price cuts and a unified app, has largely restored buyer confidence, and a free firmware update even pushed the ClubSport DD from 12 to 15Nm. The lingering catch is lock-in: the QR2 system disables force feedback on non-Fanatec rims without a Podium Hub, so buying Fanatec still means buying into Fanatec. For console racers it remains close to essential.

// Ecosystem
QR2 quick release with the largest first-party wheel/pedal/shifter catalog in sim racing; force feedback is gated on non-Fanatec rims without a Podium Hub, so the ecosystem is powerful but relatively closed.

Who it's for: PlayStation and Xbox racers who need real direct drive, and PC buyers who want the deepest accessory catalog and are happy to stay in-brand.

Fanatec bases

Fanatec ClubSport DD+
racing · 8.9/10

ClubSport DD+

The Fanatec ClubSport DD+ is the premium PlayStation direct-drive base: 15 Nm of sustained torque, official PS5/PS4 support, PC support, QR2, FullForce support and Fanatec ecosystem compatibility. Fanatec's Xbox compatibility model means Xbox support can depend on pairing with an Xbox-compatible Fanatec wheel, so PlayStation buyers should treat it as the premium PS/PC base first and Xbox-capable only when configured correctly.

Fanatec Podium DD
racing · 8.8/10

Podium DD

The Fanatec Podium DD is the brand's high-end base, delivering 25Nm of sustained torque (with higher peaks) and continuing the excellent feel of the ClubSport DD into the top class. Reviewers note it needs little damping, resists oscillation and reaches very high slew rates. Crucially for buyers, the Podium DD is PC-and-Xbox, not PS5, so PlayStation racers should choose the GT DD Pro instead. It plugs into Fanatec's full premium accessory ecosystem.

Fanatec GT DD Pro
racing · 8.3/10

GT DD Pro

The Fanatec GT DD Pro is the go-to PlayStation-and-PC direct-drive bundle, officially licensed for Gran Turismo and one of the only credible DD options for PS5 buyers. It produces 8Nm of peak torque and ships as a complete kit with a GT-style wheel and pedals. Reviewers frame it as the smart console value pick: weaker than rivals on paper, but its huge Fanatec upgrade ecosystem and PS5 license make it the established choice for living-room racers.

Fanatec CSL DD
racing · 8.2/10

CSL DD

The Fanatec CSL DD is the long-standing benchmark entry direct-drive base, delivering 5Nm on the stock power supply and 8Nm with the optional Boost Kit 180. It is one of very few entry DD bases that runs on Xbox as well as PC, and it plugs straight into Fanatec's huge accessory ecosystem. Reviewers still rate it as one of the best first DD bases years after launch, with the post-Corsair stabilization (3-year warranty, 30-day returns) restoring buyer confidence.

Fanatec — common questions

Is Fanatec still safe to buy after the Corsair takeover?
Yes. Corsair closed its acquisition of the Fanatec product line from Endor AG in September 2024, and the 2025 stabilization brought a 3-year warranty, 30-day returns, price cuts and a unified app that have largely restored buyer confidence.
Does Fanatec work on PS5 and Xbox?
Yes, but per product. The GT DD Pro covers PS5/PC, while the CSL DD and Podium DD cover Xbox/PC. Match the base to your console, since no single base does all three.
Can I use non-Fanatec wheels on a Fanatec base?
Force feedback is disabled on third-party rims through the QR2 base side unless you add a Podium Hub adapter, so most buyers stay on Fanatec wheels.
